The project is a reflection on the idea of connecting to the ground and its particular importance in the El Carmen region. Traditionally this region is famous for its ceramic production, which has developed here because of the large amount of clay in the local soils.
The project creates a workshop for the sculptor – the owner of the property. The workshop, and the attached territories should serve as a workplace, a space for guest meetings and as space for exposition of the artist’s sculptures.
The workshop is built out of concrete and rammed earth. It is counterweighted and supplemented by the Yarumo tree fores, located down the slope. These trees are elegant in shape and their crown has a silvery hue on the upper side which should be clearly visible from the workshop building.
The design is a landscape pavilion, every part of which, whether it was build or planted, are equally significant for the full cycle of the sculptor’s activities and where artist and his visitors can find places for both solitude and publicity.
